  • ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

Known for their crystal-clear sound, the British Tallis Scholars have been one of the world’s leading a cappella ensembles since their formation 50 years ago. During their anniversary tour under the direction of their founder Peter Phillips, they will also be making a stop at the Elbphilharmonie for the first time as part of the Hamburg International Music Festival. In line with the motto of the music festival, everything revolves around the beautiful theme of “love”: the singers present versatile compositions about the biblical “Song of Love” by King Solomon.

The program spans an arc from the 16th century and composers such as Orlando di Lasso to the present to Judith Weir, who is the first woman to hold the honorary title of “Master of the King’s Music” – and thus always provides new music for the British royal family.
