ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Biography of Pastor Son Yang-won, a national leader who practiced the greatest love
It is often said that there are three types of love. These are philos, eros, and agape. Philos, also called brotherly love, means a lasting and deep friendship, and eros means sexual attraction and desire through sexual and physical love. And agape is spiritual love, which is unconditional love, self-sacrificing love, and undemanding love.
A creative opera was born with a character who practiced this love of agape as the main character. This is the opera “Son Yang-won,” which depicts the life story of the late Pastor Son Yang-won (1902-1950). Son Yang-won, one of the nation’s leaders, loved even the enemy who killed his son and adopted him as his adopted son.
