ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The great Russian opera singer Alexander Pirogov possessed a bass of juicy and unique “Pirogov” timbre, unique in power and beauty, brilliant artistry and temperament, musicality and dramatic talent. His work flourished in the forties and fifties of the twentieth century. The artist’s entire creative life was connected with the Bolshoi Theatre. The pinnacle of his work was the image he created of the Russian Tsar Boris Godunov in the opera of the same name by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky. Preparing for the performance, he stopped talking for a week, went on a diet.
About the work of this miracle singer, a native of the ancient Russian city on the Oka Ryazan, says “Son of the Oka”.
