Vasyl Barvinsky is one of the most refined Ukrainian composers of the 20th century, whose music is full of noble beauty, lyricism and a subtle sense of poetic words.
Barvinsky was the first Ukrainian composer whose works were published in Europe, the USA and Japan. His solos are distinguished by an extraordinary variety of musical language and a deep connection with the poetic text. The composer restored a significant part of these works from memory after returning from the Mordovian camps, where he was repressed by the Soviet authorities, and his manuscripts were destroyed.
