A work dedicated to Father Matteo Ricci, Jesuit, mathematician, geographer from Macerata, who chose to become a missionary in the land of China: it is the chamber opera “Shi”.
He was the first Westerner to whom the emperor allowed to be buried in Chinese territory and “Shi” – which means “be done”, was the word with which he allowed the burial of Matteo Ricci.
