ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Dramma per musica in three acts, on a libretto by Giovanni Andrea Moniglia (1624-1700). First performance: Vienna, Hoftheater, June 9, 1667.
The work had been commissioned by Cardinal Leopold of Medici (1617-1675), son of the Grand Duke of Tuscany Cosimo II, on the occasion of the wedding of the Archduke of Tyrol Sigismund Francis. The latter having died in June 1665, she was not represented until two years later at the court of Vienna, on the occasion of the birthday of Emperor Leopold I.
The reworked opera was also performed in Italy under the title La Schiava fortunata, or The Risembianze di Semiramide e Nino.
