ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Haydn’s monumental oratorio, The Creation, captivates not only by laying the Enlightenment’s harmonious philosophy bare before us, but also by presenting us with a whole new world. This should come as no surpise; the piece tells the story of how God created the heavens, the Earth, the Sun, the Moon, the stars, plants, animals and mankind in six days. There could hardly be a better occasion to marvel at all this – while marvelling at Haydn’s wit and vivid imagery – than the traditional New Year’s concert at Müpa Budapest, conducted, as always, by Ádám Fischer.
