Writer, comedian, and dramatic coloratura soprano Nikki Muller is fulfilling a longtime dream of creating and performing a solo show that translates the 1987 classic action film Robocop into a set of original arias, which she’s written in German (and a little Italian)—proving a new, unexpected usefulness for her comp lit degree. Composed of original arias and “expert” commentary, Robocopera is equal parts love letter to Detroit’s greatest fictional hero and the operatic canon.
