ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Hanna-Elisabeth Müller (born May 3, 1985 in Mannheim) is a German opera, concert and lieder singer in the soprano voice range. In addition to her international opera engagements, she regularly appears as a soloist in the performance of oratorios, symphonic works and orchestral songs and works with well-known orchestras and conductors. Her song repertoire ranges from German Romanticism to music of the 20th century.
From 2012 to 2016, Hanna-Elisabeth Müller was a member of the ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera, where she made her debut in various lyric soprano roles and has continued to make guest appearances at this house. According to the character of her voice, which was described by reviewers as “blessed with a fine, light timbre”, “as if cut from a crystal” or “with a wonderfully characteristic vocal silver”, youthful roles were initially formed in operas by Mozart as one of her focal points, later roles with greater dramatic importance. Between 2012 and 2020 she was often seen in Munich and in 2022 at the Vienna State Opera as Pamina in The Magic Flute. In Don Giovanni she has portrayed Zerlina since 2013 and Donna Anna since 2017, as which she made her debut at La Scala[ in Milan and also appeared at the Bavarian and Vienna State Opera in 2019. In Idomeneo she was engaged in 2017 as Ilia at the Zurich Opera House and in 2021 as Elettra at the Munich Opera Festival. In Le nozze di Figaro she has embodied the role of Susanna in a large number of performances since 2013 and made her debut as Countess Almaviva at the Vienna State Opera in 2023.
In 2017 she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera New York as Marzelline in Fidelio, and in 2020 she also performed Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro there. Another focus was the participation in operas by Richard Strauss. Due to an audition with Christian Thielemann, she was engaged for the 2014 Salzburg Easter Festival as Zdenka in Arabella. The success in this role alongside Renée Fleming and Thomas Hampson was decisive for her award as “Upcoming Artist of the Year” in the critics’ survey of the magazine Opernwelt. After she had also portrayed Zdenka at the Semperoper Dresden and from 2015 at the Bavarian State Opera, she took on the title role in Arabella at the Zurich Opera House in 2022. She made her debut as Sophie in Rosenkavalier in 2015 at the Dutch Opera Amsterdam and worked in this role from 2016 to 2018 at the Bavarian State Opera.
