Regula Mühlemann (born 7 January 1986 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss opera singer .
Regula Mühlemann grew up in Adligenswil in Lucerne and studied at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts under Barbara Locher . The young soprano gained her first experience on the opera stage at an early age at the Lucerne Theater .
Afterwards, engagements took her as Despina ( Così fan tutte ) to the Teatro La Fenice in Venice , to the Zurich Opera House and to the Baden-Baden Festival Hall , where she played Giannetta in Gaetano Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore . In the summer of 2012, she made her debut as the young Papagena in Peter von Winter ‘s opera The Labyrinth at the Salzburg Festival . Since then, Regula Mühlemann has been heard at many of the world’s most important opera and concert houses, including the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia , the Nederlandse Opera , the Opéra national de Paris, the Berlin State Opera , the Theater an der Wien , the Teatro Regio in Turin , the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Verbier Festival and Lucerne Festival in Switzerland. She made her debut as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro in September 2017 at the Grand Théâtre de Genève . As Juliette in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, she brought a major romantic role to the stage for the first time in November 2018 at the Lucerne Theater . She made her house debut at the Vienna State Opera in February 2020 with her role debut as Adina in L’elisir d’amore .
Regula Mühlemann was a finalist in the «Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes» in Geneva and has received numerous awards, including a scholarship from the Friedl Wald Foundation , the Migros Culture Percentage , the Elvira Lüthi Wegmann Foundation, Professor Armin Weltner and the Jmanuel and Evamaria Schenk Foundation. In 2015 she was a finalist in the Cardiff Singer of the World competition .
Regula Mühlemann’s discography includes Gioachino Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle , Le nozze di Figaro with Rolando Villazón and Thomas Hampson under the musical direction of Yannick Nézet-Séguin , as well as her debut album Mozart Arias , which won the German Record Critics’ Award in February 2017.
Regula Mühlemann became more well-known through Jens Neubert’s film adaptation of Carl Maria von Weber ‘s opera Der Freischütz , in which she played the role of Ännchen. In another film adaptation of Christoph Willibald Gluck’s opera Orfeo ed Euridice, Regula Mühlemann was seen alongside Bejun Mehta as Amor. In 2016 and 2019 she was heard as part of the ZDF Advent concert from Dresden .
