Presented in partnership with Canadian creation company Musique 3 Femmes, this evening supports a long-standing desire for more U.S.-Canadian partnerships in the new works sphere. The programme features excerpts from Plaything, a dark comedy about a beleaguered hacker who has leaked government secrets, along with a conversation by the Canadian-Ukrainian creators of the work, composer Anna Pidgorna and librettist Maria Reva. Plaything was commissioned in 2020 by M3F’s national prize for female composers and librettists, and received its world premiere in 2022 in Berlin.
