ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The theme of the competition was revealed in twenty musical works – instrumental excerpts, opera arias, choral parts and recitations. About 200 applications were sent to the competition, about 60 were selected for participation.
We decided to invite our participants to fantasize about how Peter I saw his “Paradise”, how it seemed to him in his dreams! How he sees it now! A cold, harsh, uncomfortable city that has experienced devastating floods more than once, grown on bones and stilts, and survived wars and revolutions! And at the same time – “Paradise” with dazzling palaces, granite embankments and incredible Nevsky Prospect, along which such geniuses as Pushkin and Gogol, Dostoevsky and Tchaikovsky, and many, many others walked. Is the Petersburg that we know now similar to the city of “paradise” that Peter the Great dreamed of!?
A distinctive feature of the Digital Opera project is its manufacturability. Generative graphics are used to create content that accompanies classical opera art. The competition helps aspiring directors and artists work with international artists. Participants gain skills in interacting with specially developed programs that allow them to create technologically advanced and modern multimedia content, learn to solve complex problems in a team and, as a result, bring high-tech products to the market and manage the development process.
Real world opera stars worked with young specialists. Honored Artist of Russia Karen Akopov, laureate of the international competition Alexander Bezrukov, laureate of international and all-Russian competitions Natalya Menshikova appeared on the stage of the Hermitage Theater.
