  • ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

The Vienna Symphony Orchestra’s traditional Easter concert is taking its international tour for the first time: with the new Easter festival “Primavera da Vienna” at the Politeama Rossetti in Trieste. The concert begins with the orchestra’s brand-new “Trieste Fanfare,” with which the musicians will perform in Miramare Palace, the historic imperial residence of the Habsburgs by the sea.

For more than four decades, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra has welcomed spring with a bouquet of lively melodies. The program naturally includes works by the year’s regent, Johann Strauss, but pieces by Franz Lehár, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and Erich Korngold will also be presented.

The musical direction of this spring festival will be assumed by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra’s Chief Conductor, Petr Popelka. Soprano Tara Stafford and tenor Michael Spyres have been invited as soloists. Christoph Stradner, the orchestra’s first solo cellist, will play the solo part in Johann Strauss’ “Romance No. 2.”
