ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Opera’s Vanishing Voices is a feature-length opera documentary about the crisis facing opera today, and the artists, houses, and champions working to save it. Executive Produced by Tina Vidal-Duart and Carlos Duart and Directed by Leonor Anthony and Nima Soofi.
The film goes inside a world under strain. Audiences are aging. Ticket revenue is shrinking. Historic opera houses are cutting seasons or closing entirely. The people who love this art form are not walking away. They are rebuilding it.
Through intimate interviews and historical context, Opera’s Vanishing Voices asks what a culture loses when a 400-year-old tradition begins to disappear, and what it takes to bring it back to the forefront of cultural life.
This opera documentary is for anyone who has ever been moved by a great performance, or wondered why the theaters that made those performances possible are quietly going dark.
