    Phaedra is the mythical image of an infidel. Herodias is a symbol of a woman – a depraved murderer. Mary Magdalene is a well-known symbol of a harlot who, however, found redemption from sin. Dalila is a type of traitor. Salome is a twisted sadist. Like Herodias, Klytemnästra is a perverted queen. Kundry desecrates the ritual of the old Grail. Jocasta is a participant in incest with her own son. Several forms of sinful female characters in the history of opera. Dance macabre with its stormy atmosphere fits into this dramaturgy of sin.
