  Florida Atlantic University presented the opening concert of FAU Opera in Italy 2026 in collaboration with the Conservatorio Giacomo Puccini La Spezia at the Chiesa Evangelica Metodista in La Spezia.

  This international concert featured emerging vocal artists from the Opera in Italy program in a varied evening of opera, art song, musical theatre, jazz, and popular repertoire, highlighting the connection between American university study and Italian musical culture.

  The program included music by Mozart, Paisiello, Debussy, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Amy Beach, Massenet, Righini, Jason Robert Brown, Schubert, Purcell, Handel, Puccini, Serrano Simeón, and others, with repertoire ranging from Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Le nozze di Figaro to Puccini’s La bohème, Handel’s Rinaldo, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, German Lied, French mélodie, Spanish zarzuela, American art song, musical theatre, and jazz.
