ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The story takes place in Marineda, a small Galician town, at the end of the last century. Estévez, a tax official and avid music lover, arrives there, constantly complaining about having been forced to leave Madrid and the performances at the Teatro Real.
A few months later, an Italian opera company performs in the town, and Estévez, who writes scathing musical reviews in the local newspaper, lavishes praise on the soprano, a woman of great beauty but little talent.
Based on the short story “Por el arte” by Emilia Pardo Bazán, it is directed by Pilar Miró and stars Leo Anchóniz, Manuel Zarzo, Emilio Laguna, Alfonso del Real, Charo López, Conchita Goyanes, Carmen Maura, Chelo Vivares, Félix Rotaeta, Chus Lampreave, and Raúl Sender, among others.
