Italian opera in 60 minutes?
A series of the most famous arias of the Italian repertoire, performed
by two puppeteers-clowns-mimes. A succession of gags accompanied by immortal music. A
juxtaposition of high and popular culture. Two porters, during their lunch break, listen to music
and tell stories by building scenes before the eyes of the audience, assembling boxes, opening
cartons, playing with envelopes, cardboard boxes, hatboxes, parcels and packages. Each box contains a
surprising world and the two porters become the actors in a dazzling staging: a
carousel of characters and puppets, of romances and famous arias in a growing and
exciting rhythm. To then finally return to being two simple porters, amazed and incredulous at what they have
created. A juggling of sounds and laughter. A mixture of theatrical techniques and music. Through the
language of their bodies and the choreography of their puppets and figures, the two mimes will be able to speak a
silent but universal language, immediately understandable by audiences of all ages and cultures.
