ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
From December 2nd to 15th at the Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna, Maestro RICCARDO MUTI will present and conduct Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem Mass , composed in 1874 and dedicated to Alessandro Manzoni.
Accompanied by Riccardo Muti, audiences will have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in this great work and experience firsthand all the preparatory stages of the concert, right up to the final performance of the work. On December 2nd, spectators will be able to listen to Riccardo Muti’s lecture-concert on the Requiem Mass with the Orchestra, a way to discover anecdotes, information, and curiosities about the composition. From December 3rd to 11th, audiences will be able to attend rehearsals and witness firsthand all the behind-the-scenes work of a conductor like Riccardo Muti. During rehearsals, in explaining the music and his method of approaching it, Muti speaks a simple, direct language that everyone can understand, engaging those present so they are more aware and ready to listen. This is how rehearsals become true concert-lessons. On December 13th, the young conductors of the eighth edition of the Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy in Italy will conduct the opera. The Academy is an extremely important project, through which Riccardo Muti passes on his experience to new generations of musicians and beyond, helping them engage with the extraordinary Italian repertoire. On December 15th, Maestro Riccardo Muti will conduct the Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra, performing the Messa da Requiem , an opera that won him two Grammy Awards in 2011 for Best Classical Album and Best Choral Performance, thanks to his recording with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.
