The cultures of East and West are often contrasted, so their synthesis is always effective. The harmonies and rhythms characteristic of Eastern music add new semantic dimensions and emotional nuances to Western musical genres.
An international trio will perform at the cathedral on Malaya Gruzinskaya: a Japanese organist, a Chinese singer and a Russian performer on the Japanese shakuhachi flute. The program includes works by Bach, Handel, Gluck and modern Japanese music.
