“Misa de six” by Carlos Jimenez Mabarak, was an unrecognized work at the time, as it narrates the murder of a woman in a cabaret in front of a church in the Tepito neighborhood.
Carlos Jiménez Mabarak ( January 31, 1916 in Tacuba – June 21, 1994 in Mexico City ) was a Mexican composer.
Jiménez Mabarak was a piano student of Jesús Castillo , then studied at the Conservatory of Santiago de Chile , at the Institute for Advanced Musical Studies in Brussels and was a student of Charles van der Borren at the University of Brussels . In Paris he continued his studies with René Leibowitz . From 1942 he taught composition at the Conservatory of Mexico City and harmony at the Art School of Villahermosa .
He composed two operas ( Misa de seis , 1962 and La Güera , 1982), ten ballets , incidental music, three symphonies , a concerto for piano, timpani, xylophone and percussion, chamber music works (piano pieces), choral music and songs .
