ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The Vienna Boys’ Choir has been inextricably linked to the Austrian capital since its beginnings in 1498 and, as Austria’s youngest ambassadors, they inspire concert audiences all over the world.
Music is a determining element in the life of the approximately 100 active Vienna Boys’ Choir: voice training, rehearsals and school in the Palais Augarten, regular concerts, opera performances and tours on all continents are part of the routine for the nine to fourteen year olds.
The documentary describes the everyday life of the young musicians and tells of life between excitement, fame, hard work and football from the perspective of the choir boys. The viewer experiences first-hand what it’s like to be a choir boy – and discovers that a choir consists of many characters: the livelier, the more polyphonic, the better. Because, according to the credo of the artistic director Gerald Wirth: “The music only becomes really good when everyone can contribute their whole personality.”
