ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The most popular of Gustav Mahler’s symphonies, staged by Romeo Castellucci in the Vitrolles Stadium, a partially rehabilitated wasteland. An exceptional production, which promises to stir the public of Aix-en-Provence.
Meditation on the disappearance of all things and affirmation of faith in creative power, Symphony No. 2 in C minor “Resurrection” remains without a doubt the most popular of Gustav Mahler’s symphonies. The iconoclast Romeo Castellucci (his version of Mozart’s Requiem in Aix-en-Provence in 2019 caused a stir) meets the Finnish conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen for a radical reinterpretation of this existential fresco.
