    Madrid, Spain – Year 1868

    First Act We see everyday life in a neighborhood of Madrid. The seamstresses work on their chores. Then we hear the story of the little soldier, the young Javier who has been promoted to Colonel and returns to his neighborhood after a long absence. His friends welcome him with hugs, but Doña Mariana complains to him for neglecting and leaving her girlfriend Luisa Fernanda forgotten. Don Vidal, a rich farmer, takes the opportunity to declare his love for Luisa Fernanda. Duchess Carolina enters the scene, ruthless and shameless, she plays with the hearts of men and casts her charms towards Colonel Javier. Luisa Fernanda, spiteful, accepts Don Vidal’s advances. In the midst of all this, the revolutionaries plan to dethrone the crown.

    Second Act At the Festival of San Antonio the people gather to dance the mazurka of the umbrella, there the lovers meet and confront each other. A few days later there is a revolutionary outbreak, Colonel Javier is confronted by the people, saved only by the love of Luisa Fernanda.

    Third Act The revolution has won, Colonel Javier, Duchess Carolina and the royal guard have been banished. Luisa Fernanda and Don Vidal plan to get married and live on the farm, all the preparations for the wedding are underway. However, Javier returns for his beloved Luisa Fernanda who has not forgotten him either. Don Vidal accepts reality and is left crying for his brunette.
