ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
A concert of profound spiritual and cultural value celebrating the mystery of Christmas through some of the most luminous works of sacred music. The heart of the program is Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria RV 589, a masterpiece of joy and devotion, one of his most beloved sacred works with its long, luminous choral sections. It is accompanied by celebrated pieces by Marc-Antoine Charpentier and Johann Sebastian Bach, three of the greatest composers of the Baroque period, and the most beloved Christmas carols of the European tradition.
The concert will open with the energetic and solemn Theme from Charpentier’s Te Deum, a composition known for its orchestral power and the triumphal character of the entire piece, which celebrates the divine with a stunning opening, renowned for its vigorous use of trumpets and vibrant orchestration. The program continues with the Aria from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3, one of the most celebrated and beloved pieces of the Baroque repertoire. Its fluid and serene melody is a perfect example of Bach’s mastery of the art of counterpoint, evoking an atmosphere of peace and contemplation.
These will be followed by some of the most famous Christmas carols from the international tradition in an exciting journey to celebrate the magic of Christmas through the music that has always accompanied this time of year.
