in medieval times, courtly love symbolized an ideal, almost platonic, as unattainable and sublimated. It was this conception of love that inspired the music and poems of the troubadours of the 12th and 13th centuries such as Wolkenstein, Neidhart, or Walther von der Vogelweide. These fragile verses set to music with the first notations form the basis of this concert.
