ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Hello my friends, and welcome to my Summer 2026 Newsletter!
We are up for a really interesting summer with lots of projects big and small, but all impactful. In London, I’m singing in a new production of I puritani at the Royal Opera House, led by Riccardo Frizza. Then I’m heading to Savonlinna, Finland to sing my first ever concerts of Bellini’s Norma.
I’m excited to add this important bel canto role to my expanding repertoire, and look forward to starting my personal journey with the character, as I move away from I puritani’s heroine Elvira.
Then I am diving into different waters and singing my first performances of Liù in Puccini’s Turandot at the gorgeous Arena di Verona in August.
There are 3 performances with rotating casts, all wonderful friends and colleagues I greatly look forward to working with!
In Salzburg, I’ll be performing a recital of Spanish and Cuban songs and arias, accompanied by my friend, pianist Rubén Fernandez Aguirre. Then at the end of the summer I head back to London for a revival of our award-winning production of Händel’s Alcina.
In between performances I’ll be giving masterclasses in Southampton, Campobasso, and Wexford, all on Verdi, bel canto, and opera in general.
I always look forward to working with young singers and learning from them!
→ REFLECTIONS
Every time we get to the summer I blink twice and say “What do you mean we’re halfway through the year already?”
I just feel like summer arrives so fast…by the time I’ve shaken off the winter cold and done my spring cleaning, it’s heatwave time and I don’t know where my bathing suit is. But aside from that, the one thing about summer that always makes me smile is the way people look forward to it all year long, and the energy shift that comes from those long days of abundant sunshine.
You guys may know I adore the cooler weather myself, and I’ve been clever at trying to find ways to escape the summer swelter and head up into the mountains, or the north. I’m blessed to find something special about everywhere I go, it’s one of the only ways to stay grounded in this whirlwind of a life we opera singers have.
The travel and the constant change as time absolutely flies by can be disorienting, exhausting, and lead to burnout.
But I always say to myself: Every day, do work, do play.
It helps me to remember that just because there’s sunlight 18 hours of the day, it doesn’t mean I should be working all those hours.
Pacing myself throughout the long summer months is essential, so that I don’t arrive exhausted to my favorite months! So, that’s what I’m going to try to work on this year.
