Let’s tell a story. Ravel opens a children’s book, and fairy tale music begins to grow from its pages. Schumann writes a love letter to his new wife, but hides it in the depths of an incredible symphony. When Hans Abrahamsen, the RSO’s theme composer, told the story of Shakespeare’s Ophelia using only Ophelia’s own words, the result was an instant modern classic. Nicholas Collon and soprano Lauren Snouffer ignite the work’s quiet glow.
