  Supposed to have died that very morning at the pool from a “ruptured heart” while swimming butterfly, a strangely rejuvenated mother visits her daughter. In another time, and further south, a village priest thinks he sees a face drawn from the wall of his church… Miracles? A question of point of view, and even of hearing, director Samuel Achache cheerfully suggests. Certainly, a birth, a romantic encounter, two events that will also be discussed here, can be described as miraculous. But what happens when a phenomenon truly occurs that defies the laws of nature? This “really”, too, is subject to interpretation…

  The uncertainty principle
  A poetic and precise cocktail of burlesque and drama, of everyday life and surrealism, Sans tambour , in which Samuel Achache and his company La Sourde combined their own compositions with lieder by Schumann, enchanted the Avignon Festival in 2022, before touring throughout France. This time, in response to a proposal from the Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine, where the premiere of Les Incrédules took place on June 18, 2025, Florent Hubert and Antonin-Tri Hoang created the entire score of their first opera with Samuel Achache, on a libretto co-written by the director with the actress Sarah Le Picard. Accompanied by an orchestra of 52 musicians, some of whom join them on stage, this tightrope troupe pushes further its unique art of mixing music with words, playing with a mischievous mastery of the rhythms of each, aided among other things by a Miraclophone, a new instrument developed for the occasion. Beyond the joy and magic suggested by the idea of miracle, the troupe invites us to question the certainties of rationality, to recognize the irreducible part of mystery of existence, and to share, between laughter and tears, the great emotions that go with it.
