500 students from the Académie de Versailles were invited on September 3, 2021 to the Château de Versailles to attend the concert-reading “La Fontaine’s Fables”. This event has been organized by the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Culture. Presented at the Royal Opera house, this performance set the tone for the new artistic and cultural project of the Académie de Versailles “From La Fontaine to Molière, the awakening of the critical spirit”, sponsored by the MGEN group.
Read by actor Thierry Péteau, La Fontaine’s fables are set to music and interwoven with instrumental pieces by Clérambault, Moulinié, Lambert, Bataille and Couperin performed by the musicians of La Chapelle Harmonique. This concert, which looks like animal fantasies, finds an immediate echo in the drawings made live by illustrator Giorgia Marras.
