May 8, 2025, the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe following the unconditional surrender of the Third Reich, is a major memorial event mobilizing news, programming, broadcasting, digital, and regional teams for an event-based program featuring major ceremonies and unique narratives. A date etched in history, it pays tribute to the courage of those who risked or lost their lives in the hell of Nazism, transmits the memory of this war of annihilation that engulfed the planet, and remembers together the sacrifices made to defend our values: freedom and peace.
France 2 is offering the Peace Concert, a special evening for the 80th anniversary of May 8, 1945, presented by Stéphane Bern, to celebrate, remember, and build this peace.
On the Champs Elysées at the foot of the Arc de Triomphe, this grand concert will extend the day of commemorations. Soloists, prestigious instrumentalists, and also variety artists will be there, including Zaz, Angélique Kidjo, Nana Mouskouri, Natasha St-Pier, Renaud Capuçon, Olivia Ruiz, Ibrahim Maalouf, Julie Fuchs, Khatia Buniatishvili, Pene Pati, and Hiba Tawaji. This meaningful musical program is designed to convey a common message of peace beyond musical styles. They will perform classical music and popular songs accompanied by the Orchestra of the Republican Guard and the French Army Choir.
