ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

The Concert at Court or the Debutante , AWV 11, is a one-act comic opera by the composer Daniel-François-Esprit Auber on a libretto by Eugène Scribe and Mélesville , created in 1824 in Paris.

The work was created on May 3, 1824 according to the booklet published by Bezou the same year 1. However, certain dates also report the first performance at May 5, 1824 or 3 June 1824 at the Théâtre Royal de l’Opéra Comique. This mention can be found in particular on the publication of the complete score the same year, published by Frère , and in the Complete Works of Scribe.

Synopsis
Adèle, a young singer, goes to the court of Stuttgart to try to get a position as a singer. There she meets her friend Victor, a painter at the court. The superintendent Astucio refuses to help the young woman and refuses her during the audition. The Prince finds Adèle in tears and arranges a role for her in a work. Astucio ruins the event again by conducting the orchestra in a chaotic manner. Victor understands the music master’s game, makes him leave, and accompanies the young woman in song, which ensures her place at court.
