ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Part 1: Classical Opera RepertoireThe first half focused entirely on popular classical opera pieces, showing off the homecoming of the opera stars (“The Nightingales”).-
- The Style: Grand, purely orchestral arrangements performed by the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra.
- Repertoire Highlights: Famous, technically demanding arias and duets from world-renowned operas. This included selections from W.A. Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro (Figaro vedybos) and Così fan tutte (Visos jos tokios), specifically highlighted to mark the return of soloist Jurgita Adamonytė from London’s Covent Garden.
Part 2: Crossover, Musical Theatre & Electronic HitsThe second half completely shifted the energy, introducing the collaboration with the “Silence Family” electronic music collective and even heavy metal influences. [- Musical Theatre Selections: Popular show tunes from massive musical productions, including standout extracts from Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (a core Vilnius City Opera favorite) and Frederick Loewe’s My Fair Lady (Mano puikioji ledi).
- Electronic and Pop Collaborations: Original electronic pop tracks heavily re-imagined for an opera singer and full orchestra backing. This featured symphonic versions of hit tracks produced by Leonas Somov, Few Nolder, Mario Basanov, and Vidis. [
- Heavy Metal Crossover: The setlist also featured a guest crossover appearance by the Lithuanian heavy metal group Soul Stealer, adding heavy guitar riffs to the symphonic opera backdrop.
