ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

A woman between desire and reality, between memory and self-knowledge. An opera between recital and film, with chansons by Barbara and scenes from the “human voice” by F. Poulenc. Two women – one voice. In this opera project a woman meets herself on stage, two musical languages contrast the conflict between erotic castles in the air and lonely reality of life.
A woman stands on stage, talks about her life and invents herself. The singer’s fictional character comes into contradiction with the abandoned woman who is hiding behind the facade of an amorous chansonette. The story from Poulenc’s monooper appears as an objectionable reminder of reality like an inner voice of a divided self. The dialogue that the woman conducts with her lover is so much more of a self-talk, at the end of which there is liberation from the loneliness that the woman in Poulenc’s opera imposes on herself out of a lack of perspective that is her fault.
No phone, no clichés. This project is the consistent attempt to free the human voice from the compulsion to use the phone and to give the figure of the woman a future beyond all dependence on the man who has left her for good reason, because her love is not love, but psychological torture was. For him, but also for her.
As a recital with appropriate ease and French elegance. Britta Stallmeister in top form as two women with one voice. A musical self-talk with a lot of charm and without any confusion.
