ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The oratorio recounts the miracle of the storm calmed on the Sea of Galilee in two large paintings.
The first part is bright and peaceful: Jesus approaches the lake followed by the crowds, the narrator leads the scene, the choir gives voice to the people, the scribe asks the meaning of eternal life and Jesus responds with essential words, up to the final hymn to Christ.
The second part enters the darkness of the storm: the music becomes tense and dramatic, the disciples cry out for salvation, the chorus becomes fear and wave, then Jesus commands silence and calm returns, until the final praise. It is a complete journey of faith: easy when all is serene, difficult when everything trembles, and that is precisely what makes it timely.
