The Sevillian Zarzuela Company opens its season with a work that celebrates its 110th anniversary and perfectly represents the changes in taste that were taking place in the quintessential Spanish theatrical genre. After the effervescence of the final years of the 19th century by the small genre, now the great operas that are close to the operetta style are triumphing again. La Generala de Vives, which was seen for the first time at the Gran Teatro de Madrid in June 1912, is a good example, and in this case not only for the musical part, but also for the plot that introduces us to royal families. and aristocratic women from impossible kingdoms (Molavia, Spartanopia) involved in sentimental and financial intrigues that delighted the public of the time
