  La del Soto del Parral is a zarzuela in two acts, divided into three scenes, with a libretto by Luis Fernández de Sevilla and Anselmo C. Carreño and music by Reveriano Soutullo and Juan Vert. It premiered at the Teatro de La Latina in Madrid on October 26, 1927, achieving such resounding success that on December 15 of the same year it was also performed at the Teatro Apolo for a long season.

  The libretto of this zarzuela follows the normal patterns of rural dramas, demonstrating the good work of the writers, by creating a picture full of costumbrismo and local color, while being set in Segovia, the birthplace of one of the librettists. , Anselmo C. Carreno.

  On the musical side, this is the second zarzuela by the maestros Soutullo and Vert, which achieves great success, with which they begin to gain recognition, after the premiere of one of their first collaborations, La leyenda del beso. In this work they move away from the operetta environment that predominated in their previous work to approach rural costumbrismo, creating a score of great lyrical flights, with certain influences of Italian verismo, which had been gaining momentum, without losing the Spanish spirit. that pervades the entire work. Great wisdom can also be observed in the orchestration, where the great symphonic sense that this work possesses is appreciated, leaving the traditional line and following the path that Usandizaga had initially marked with his work Las golondrinas
