ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Quote from Wikipedia:
With this work, the maestro Sorozábal was definitively established as a composer; in it he was able to reflect the atmosphere of Madrid at the time of the premiere, wisely combining the traditional rhythms of the sainete, such as the pasodoble, the mazurca or the chotis, with others such as the fox trot or the farruca, giving it a new character and meaning, more close to modernity, and even to the operetta; the composer himself had tried to find new media and even, for example, give the musical numbers a certain danceable meaning.
Within the section of the text, although it continues in the traditional line of the Madrid farce, there are new situations and characters such as the run-down lady, the ridiculous Don Juan from the neighborhood, or the hyperbolic waiter. As usual in many works of the genre, the sentimental plot predominates, but certain touches of social awareness can be appreciated, reflecting the atmosphere of the moment.
