  • ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

Teatro Real has created “Ópera en Corto”, shortened versions, of around 45 minutes, of works from the lyrical repertoire explained by the composer Francesca Caccini (1587-1641), recreated virtually.
Led by the first woman to write an opera – also a singer, lutenist, poet and teacher – the Real offers an entertaining tour of the most popular operas, which can be broadcast in schools, institutes, universities, music and art teaching centres, hospitals and nursing homes.

Today, in commemoration of International Music Day, the Real is offering all schools the first installment of “Opera en Corto” (Short Opera), La bohème, free of charge, in the production that was a success at the Teatro Real in 2017, with musical direction by Paolo Carignani and stage direction by Richard Jones.
Francesca Caccini, who has her own social media accounts – Instagram and TikTok – will cover five centuries of opera, revealing its secrets and secrets, from those hidden in the score to what is behind the scenes, workshops, dressing rooms, orchestra rehearsal rooms, choir rooms and singers’ studios.

La bohème is the first of four titles included in the programme offered to schools affiliated with El Real en tu clase, one of the Teatro Real’s educational programmes, through which primary, secondary and high schools broadcast audiovisual products in their classrooms or auditoriums – opera, concerts, dance or a multitude of children’s shows – designed especially for their students.
All the episodes of “opera in short” – the next one will be dedicated to The Barber of Seville – will be available, free of charge, on My Opera Player.
