ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The first Kazakh opera “Kyz Zhibek” was immediately recognized as the pearl of the national musical art. The libretto based on the folk lyric-epic poem of the same name about the tragic love of Zhibek and Tulegen was written by the famous playwright and writer Gabit Musrepov, and the music was written by the composer Yevgeny Brusilovsky, who actively used Kazakh folk songs and kyuis, as well as the works of folk composers – Ybraya, Mukhita, Zhayau Musa, Tattimbeta and boldly applied the European art of instrumentation and harmony to Kazakh music.
For many decades, the opera has not left the stage. Many editions and readings have been created. But the beauty and soulfulness of each musical number of this opera, each orchestral fragment remains unchanged.
