ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Who gallops through the dark forest at night with a treasure in his arms? What are these forces attacking the innocent soul of a child? A community of enthusiastic musicians from a mining royal city in the middle of the forests meets in a cruel struggle with gloomy pseudo-romanticism. A group of hired professionals helps them in their determination. Together they resist even the most insidious traps of the King of Ghosts and his bandits. Frailty, hallucinations, fog, illness, a person in danger, composers without borders – all this arouses anxiety in us. However, it is only an illusion – like everything around us. Although the story has multiple endings, the creators of the opera offer you one. Let’s heal the child, let’s heal the world!
1. In the Kitchen [01:16]
A group of proud musicians from a mining royal town in the middle of the forests comes on stage. They sing a song in their native language – En de Kochel
2. Overture [02:58]
A group of hired professionals builds the scenery in which the final match will take place. The Mother arrives. She begins to engage in the interweaving of destinies.
3. Evening of Songs [07:05]
Father and Son come on stage. Through Schubert’s song, they introduce us to the story – a father with a sick son in his arms galloping through a desolate, windy forest at night
4. Father and Son [10:39]
The son has visions, he is delusional. He feels the presence of the King of Ghosts. Father calms him down – my son, they are just wisps of fog
5. Mother [13:36]
The son calls for a better place in the world, for a place where it is possible to live more beautifully, for a place where there is no suffering. He longs for the healing of the whole world. The King of Ghosts agrees, but lures the boy to his beautiful country-no-country, to a kingdom full of luxury and glitter
6. Horror [19:48]
A horse pulls a child’s coffin. The sick boy constantly has terrifying hallucinations – he hears the flattering call of the King of Ghosts. He is afraid and his father tries in vain to calm him
7. Horse [23:35]
The horse symbolizes the irreversibility of fate, it leads the boy to the coffin. Just as it would lead him to water if the boy were thirsty. However, the King of Ghosts is persistent. He offers the boy his entire kingdom
8. You! [26:26]
You! You’re the one who keeps asking! The boy keeps asking his father questions. And he says nothing
9. Dear boy! [27:22]
The Ghost King insists. He increases the offer. He offers the boy his entire family. Even games with his daughters. You can play as much as you want!
10. Mein Vater! / Father! [29:02]
The boy sees the Ghost King’s naughty daughters. He is fascinated. Is it a mirage or reality? The unhappy, helpless father tries to warn him
11. Break [30:23]
During the break, local poetry is heard. Refreshments are served to the proud inhabitants of the mining royal city. They sing a song about the internal problems of the community
12. The Ghost Queen [33:28]
The father is at his wits’ end. He is confused. He discovers the inexorable truth – according to Norse mythology, the Queen of Ghosts weaves human destinies
13. Quarantine [36:01]
The boy is in a coma. Everyone is humiliated, enslaved, abandoned, desperate. Even the King of Ghosts. So who is the leader? Has anyone seen him at all? They want to find a way out
14. Horse [44:14]
The horse reminds, repeats, asks. Who is it that gallops in the night? Who is the leader? Who is the victim? Who lured us here?
15. Hildegard [45:07]
A deus ex machina enters the scene. A strong woman with charisma brings deliverance! She solves problems and heals the wounded souls of the Son, the Father, and even the King of Ghosts himself!
16. Conclusion [46:44]
A messenger brings the reborn Child onto the scene. In contrast to false promises, they proclaim the pure, carefree joy of children’s play, of a world where people are brothers and sisters, they proclaim a place where there is no longer room for deceit, falsehood, deceit and mammoth. It is complete!
