  • Act 2 (Scene 3): Serves as a major narrative climax. A somber and broken King Adami returns to his castle, where he demands that the Bishop reveal the final words of the prophecy. Seeking to claim absolute power for Rome, the Bishop fabricates a warning: the king must obey both him and the Church, or perish in the fires of hell. King Adami rejects these terms and banishes the Bishop. Left with no other options to save his kingdom, the king turns away from the Church and summons the enigmatic sorcerer of the woods.
