ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
In the first person, along with other great names in the world of opera, Josep Carreras tells his love story with the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the springboard that launched him onto the international stage.
The tenor made his debut in the role of Trujaman in “El retablo de Maese Pedro” by Manuel de Falla, when he was only 11 years old. Half a century has passed: it was January 1958. Twelve years later, at the same Liceu, he sang his first role as a tenor in Donizetti’s opera “Lucrezia Borgia”, alongside Montserrat Caballé.
The return to Barcelona theatre, once he recovered from leukemia, Josep Carreras’ vocal personality and the “Els Tres Tenors” project are other aspects that the program also covers.
The soprano Montserrat Caballé, the tenor Plàcido Domingo and the conductors Zubin Mehta and David Giménez also take part, alongside Josep Carreras.
In “Josep Carreras on stage. 50 years since his debut at the Liceu”, the tenor also pays tribute to the audience that has followed him for decades.
The program team is made up of Maria Gorgues, director; Josep M. Serra, director, and Laura Badal, producer.
