ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Quote from Wikipedia:
The St. John Passion ( Passio secundum Johannem , BWV 245) is, along with the St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244), the only fully preserved authentic Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach . She supplements the gospel account according to John of the capture and crucifixion of Jesus Christ with chorales and freely added texts and arranges it musically in an instrumentation for four-part choir , vocal soloists and orchestra. The work, which lasts about two hours, is now mostly used as concert music performed, but has its original place in the service and was first performed on Good Friday , April 7, 1724 in Leipzig’s Nikolaikirche.(Visited 162 times, 1 visits today)
