  • ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

Joan of Arc (1412-1431) was burned at the stake for heresy. The visions of this young peasant girl guided her to change the course of the Hundred Years’ War. The extensive historical documentation that survives from this trial provides the literary substance for this dramatized concert within the Mystiques cycle , in which an actor plays the bishop Pierre Cauchon and an actress Joan herself. It is accompanied by music by the main composers of the early 15th century.

    The program:
Contemporary works on Joan of Arc by Tinctoris, Dufay and Dunstaple interspersed with dramatized readings of testimonies taken from her inquisitorial process.
