ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Quote Opera Poznan:
A great love that has to face prejudice. He, Stach, comes from a wealthy family, she, Chicha, is a gypsy. Eternal rules, intolerance and stubbornness stand in the way of their happiness. Will Stach and Chicha be able to be together? Will family secrets be revealed? Is a happy ending always a happy ending?
A rarely staged opera by Stanisław Moniuszko for the first time in a full musical setting prepared by Jakub Lis in collaboration with Rafał Kłoczko, the performance’s conductor. Ilaria Lanzino, an Italian director of the young generation, known for her unconventional and innovative performances, is responsible for staging the performance. For her, “Jawnuta” is a story about Polish Roma and their complicated history, about the power of prejudices and the search for a way to avoid them. The audience will be moved by wistful Roma songs and captivating melodies, and knowing the unbridled imagination of Dorota Karolczak, responsible for the decorations, the world presented on stage will absorb them completely.
