ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Jalousie des tempêtes is a radically unfaithful reactivation of the operatic repertoire. In collaboration with singer-performer Jeanne Pâris, Emma Saba summons the ghosts of the present to haunt the classical canon. Through bodies and voices, they move between attempts at fusion and the disillusionment of belonging. Familiar arias dissolve into electric fragments, laughter, and amplified sighs. Opera sheds its pureness to become raw material: desire, anger, and tenderness. The heroines once sacrificed for loving too much, speaking too loudly, or refusing obedience return to reclaim their voice.
