ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The King is the story of a family feud: after the death of Prince Géza, his son would inherit power, but citing traditions, his uncle Koppány also collects masses around him. István can consolidate his position with foreign support, but the bloody clash is inevitable. In the legendary work of Levente Szörényi and János Bródy, generations have grown up, and his hits are known from outside every generation. Kriszta Székely’s direction is looking for a new interpretation of the classical story, this time the performance focuses on the human factors of the time instead of the historical background, asking fundamental questions such as what tools can be used in the interest of victory, what principles we sacrifice for political goals, or whether the power is above all.
