ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Ismène, by the Khroma company, is the creation of an original work by Georges Aperghis based on a poem of the same name by Yannis Ritsos. An opera for solo voice, a kind of inner dialogue, a performance for a body and the natural elements. Above all, it is an invitation to the audience to see and hear, to enter a visual installation interwoven with vocal work of absolute nudity, in a grand movement combining openness with extreme concentration.
Ismène, like a gardener of memory, cultivates in solitude sensory contact with the elements of her childhood. From her attachment to the most minuscule values, in contrast to the absolutism of her sister Antigone and the grandiloquence or lofty vision required in the palace of her father, Oedipus, is born a thought, a discourse, a vision, which she constructs slowly and serenely. This movement, carried out by a woman at the end of her life, carrying her baggage of experiences and violence, transmuted into a long meditation that is both clairvoyant and lyrical, makes Ismene a universal character, at the same time unique and very endearing
