  To commemorate the Year of Exiles and Political Prisoners, the programme of the XXVIII Pažaislis Music Festival will feature the premiere of the 6-movement oratorio “Invocations for Faith and Hope” by composer Algirdas Martinaitis, written for reader, mixed choir and symphony orchestra.
  Invocation (Latin: invocatio) is a cry, an appeal to all of us in the words of V. Mykolaitis-Putin, Maironius, the Psalms, the New Testament, the prayer book of the Lithuanian Freedom Fighters, and the words of eminent clergymen in Lithuania: Alf. Alf Alf. Svarinskas, Alf. Fragments of sermons by Alf Alf Alfas Svarsinas, Alfas Lipniunas, J. Zdebskis, excerpts from letters.

  In this time of war and world turmoil, the great suffering of the post-war exile and imprisonment of the Lithuanian people must become a sacred memory for us, a sacred reflection for the present and the future. This is also the purpose of the hopeful Invocation from the First Letter of John (1 Jn 4:7): “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God.”
